Coppa Italia Vallelunga: Pole position and victory for Sbirrazzuoli

The qualifying session saw Sbirrazzuoli take pole position in the 1st Division of the Italian Cup. The young Monegasque had no problem signing the pole, after impressing in free practice, taking advantage of the performance of the Ferrari 458 GT3 shared with David Akhobadze. Behind them, the sister car of Michael and Frank Lyons.

In race 1 of the 1st Division, early departure for polesitter Cedric Sbirrazzuoli (For a clutch problem) keeps behind the sister car of Michael Lyons and the Porsche 997 GT3 De Bellis. Despite a faster rhythm, Sbirrazzuoli gets a drive-through penalty for jumping the start. Sbirrazzuoli / Akhobadze finish in second place.

However the duo Sbirrazzuoli/Akhobadze, will win race 2 behind the wheel of their Ferrari 458 GT3AF Corse. The Georgian made a good start to keep the race lead, thanks to the pole position of Sbirrazzuoli the day before. Final victory under red flag due to the exit of a Lotus.

ELMS Estoril

Some bad luck for the last race of ELMS for Cédric Sbirrazzuoli and Adrien De Leener.
The duo finished the ELMS championship with a 7th position for the last race in Estoril in Portugal.

This time Adrien De Leener qualified in 10th position on the grid and took the start of the race, after some good laps and a good come back he gave the car in 7th position to the young Monegasque whom tried to improve his position.

After 2H of race the two young drivers were in fourth position, aiming for a podium, but unfortunately Adrien was hit in the back and had to stop to fix the diffuser. This extra stop costs them 3 laps to repair and then it was obviously impossible to fight for the podium.
Nevertheless, Cédric did a good job by doing a double stint of 1H and 40 minutes at the end of the race to cross the finish line in 7th position.

With this result they finished the championship in 6th position with is a quite good result considering it was their first year in such a difficult championship.

Cédric Sbirrazzuoli : “Today we were once again unlucky and we could have been on the podium. By the way we can be satisfied of this season as in our first year finishing 6th in GTC is a great achievement! Adrien and I couldn't have worked with a better team than these guys!”

Next race for Cédric on the 26th of October in Vallelunga for the Coppa Italia.

Septembre 2014

Good points for the championship for Cédric Sbirrazzuoli and his team mate Adrien De Leener.

The penultimate round of the European Le Mans Series took place in south of France on the beautiful circuit of Paul Ricard.

After a good qualifying, the young Monegasque claimed the 3rd place in the GTC category, but let his team mate Adrien De Leener take the start of the race. Unfortunately after a difficult first lap in traffic, the car N°95 was only in tenth position. There started the comeback from the two young drivers. First Adrien did a good job to come back to 6th place before leaving the car to Cédric Sbirrazzuoli for a double stint.

The young Monegasque started to overtake his rivals during his one and a half hour double stint. He finally gave the car back in 2nd position after a very nice fight with Franck Perrera’s Porsche.
The N°95 Ferrari (AF Corse) was in third position but unfortunately a problem on the wheel nut, avoid the mechanics to change the back tires for Cédric Sbirrazzuoli’s last stint. The Mclaren of Kevin Korjus with new tires managed to overtake the young Monegasque after a very nice battle.

After a 4H race Cédric Sbirrazzuoli and Adrien De Leener took 5th place even if they were both a bit disappointed to lose podium because of a technical problem.

Cédric Sbirrazzuoli :” A shame we had this problem during the last pit stop because we could have got a nice podium to repeat the one of Red Bull Ring, but this is racing and we’ll come even stronger for the last race of the championship in Estoril on the 19th  of October.”

Red Bull Ring ELMS

The third round of the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), held on the circuit of Spielberg (Austria) saw the first podium of the duo Sbirrazzuoli / De Leener in GTC class.
From the start of the race, the young Monegasque took the lead of the GTC class, while he started from third on the grid. Following an accident of the BMW Z4 GT3, the safety car came on track for a few laps to clear the circuit. At the restart, Cédric Sbirrazzuoli chained fast laps to extend his lead over his pursuers before giving his Ferrari 458 GT3 (AF Corse) to his teammate Adrien De Leener.
During this race of 4H, it was physically very difficult because of the heat, the two drivers of the No. 95 have done a great job to earn a 3rd place in the GTC class.

Cédric Sbirrazzuoli:I’m very happy for this first podium in ELMS, especially after the problems encountered in the previous races. ELMS is the most Competitive championship in Europe and being competitive here with Adrien means that we can perform everywhere. Let’s try to climb the steps of the podium for the last two races...

Portimao GT Open

First race in Gt Open championship and first podium for Cédric Sbirrazzuoli and Adrien De Leener.

The young Monegasque and young Belgian participated to the second race of the International GT Open this weekend on the beautiful Portimao circuit in Portugal.

The race was marked by an incident at the start in which car # 57 was unfortunately involved. The young Monegasque was able to continue the race, but with a rather damaged car and therefore less competitive to finish in 9th place.

In contrast Race 2 was much better; Adrien De Leener took the start and the first sting of the race. After 25 minutes he gave way to the young Monegasque who began his ascended to the podium. After several quick laps and overtaking, they found themselves in 2nd position behind the other Ferrari of Rugolo / Sdanewitsch. Unfortunately a tire problem will require the Monegasque to slow down and let the other Ferrari of Gattuso / Cordoni pass.

A good result anyway and a first podium this season for the duo Sbirrazzuoli / De Leener proving once again their competitiveness in European top championships.
Next Event on the Red Bull Ring circuit in Austria the weekend of 19-20 July 2014.

4H Imola : Great pace but unlucky result

Leaving Imola with mixed feelings as the duo cannot have any complaints regarding their performance. Cédric Sbirrazzuoli sharing the car with his team mate Adrien De Leener qualified on the front row for this second race of the European La Mans Series.

The young Monegasque took the start and quickly created a gap at the lead of the race before losing a lap after being pushed in the gravel by a slower Aston Martin GTE.

But the duo didn’t give up and after a good double stint for Adrien De Leener; Cédric took the car to finish the last hour and a half of the race. They were able to catch the lap and get close to the podium; they were 4th, one hour before the finish flag.

Unfortunately as the AF Corse car N°95 pitted for the last splash of fuel the team saw the front right brake disk cracking. They had to pull the car in the box to change it.

The Monegasque definitely never gave up as he setted fastest lap after fastest lap for his last hour.

Let’s hope for a better luck for the next race next week in Portimao for our debut in GT Open.

Silverstone ELMS

First race of the championship European Le Mans Series for the duo Cédric Sbirrazzuoli /Adrien De Leener on the legendary Silverstone circuit in England.

Unfortunately from the very beginning of the race, the 458 GT3 Team AF Corse will experience an electrical problem, which will require repair during 6 laps in the pit lane.
Following this incident the Monegasque claimed fastest lap after fastest lap but in vain, the distance from the lead was too big to hope for a good result. The only satisfaction was the race pace, which is a good point for the rest of the season, as the young Monegasque has once again proved that he was among the fastest drivers in the championship and therefore on the European scene.

Next appointment for the Le Mans Series on the 17-18 May 2014 in Imola circuit (Italy).
